In August 2019, mom-of-seven Ruby Johnson was driving her eldest child from their home outside Chicago to Colorado, where her daughter Piper would begin her freshman year of college. Suddenly, Piper wasn’t feeling well and started coughing. Within 24 hours, Piper was in the intensive-care unit of a Colorado hospital with a mysterious lung illness.
